Marina managers on patrol PDF Print

Rio Dulce marina managers Friday met with police, Inguat and lanchero representatives to discuss boaters' security issues and other concerns.
Acting on a suggestion by John Moore, manager of Monkey Bay Marina, several members of the group agreed to participate in River Watch, a voluntary night patrol in conjunction with the local police department.
Marina managers  The intent of the patrol with an armed police officer is to establish a late night/early morning law enforcement presence on the river in an effort to deter dinghy and motor thefts.
The patrols are expected to greatly enhance security for boats at anchor, generally considered most susceptible for loss of property in early morning hours.
"Once the dinghy thieves realize there is an armed law enforcement patrol on the river at night with full arrest authority, perhaps they'll be less inclined to pursue this type of activity," one of the managers commented. "At least we're interested in getting out there and doing something on a personal basis rather than sitting around and just complaining about the situation."
