Hi, my name is Moko….I have new owners and a new marina to run!

Moko Pointe Marina, a small, semi-private haven, is a new place along the Rio Dulce for docking boats that has been created by Lanny and Peggy Overall and Miguel Rodriguez.

It is located just one nautical mile north of the bridge on the north side of the river. Currently, they can place 4 additional boats, med-moor style.

Peggy has quite the eye for color; and with the help of her crew, she has created a blend of pastels along the walkways, buildings and bridge.

Boaters will be able to enjoy the facilities as there is a newly-painted swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, clean restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities within easy access to the docking area, as well as a covered picnic area close to the pool for guests to use and enjoy.

In the future, they plan to add a happy-hour bar which will be located in the recreation area.

Just the other day, I had the pleasure of lounging around the pool with music in the background floating on a raft sipping on a cool drink.   Yes, I had a “peaceful, easy feeling” (any Eagles music fans out there?). What a relaxing afternoon!

Peggy, Lanny and Miguel introduced their place when they held a Memorial Day bash.  Everyone had a grand time swimming, eating and drinking.

People splashed and played in the pool, and Moko got a strenuous workout trying to keep up with all of the activities. New, as well as returning boaters, had the opportunity to meet and reunite with one another catching up on travels and adventures had throughout this past winter.

To me, it definitely felt like a backyard family barbeque, Texas-style, of course!

New mooring anchors and cables have recently been installed, and Moko Pointe is ready to accept additional boats. They monitor channel 68 on the VHF radio and their telephone numbers are 4676 5198 (Lanny) and 4668 4746 (Miquel).

Dinghy parking is available under the bridge-way along the shoreline during the day; however, as ALWAYS here on the river, dinghies should be locked down at night to keep the local thieves honest.

So, give them a call to find out their space availability and rates.
