Barefoot Cay -- a boutique resort & marina
After a few rough days at sea, pulling into Barefoot Cay Marina in Roatan, Honduras is a welcome relief!

Just steps from the marina dock, a glistening T-shaped lap pool beckons, complete with Jacuzzi jets.

Veer off to the side to head down the wood dock to the palapa, where hammocks sway in the breeze.

If your passage has been really strenuous, you may need to head to a spa room for a massage, followed by a few pina coladas up on the observation deck above the restaurant.

The marina itself has 780 linear feet of dock space, accommodating vessels up to 165 feet with up to a 10 foot draft.

There are concrete docks with stout cleats for side-tying, as well as some additional wooden docks. 120V 30 A and 240V 50A service is available, as well as purified water.

Fueling can be arranged direct to your boat, and the marina will call an agent to take care of clearing you through customs.

There’s a full service PADI 5 star IDC dive center, Barefoot Divers, which offers instruction and guided dives for certified divers, located just on the other side of the 75’ channel from the cay.

Just next to the dive shop, there’s a retail shop and the spa rooms, as well as the marine park office for the south side of Roatan. The dining service, just next to the pool, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as appetizers and drinks.

And if you’d like to have a few nights of sleep on terra firma, the resort has beautiful luxury beachfront bungalows and villas as well as Oceanview lofts.

If you need to stock up on some provisions, there are several grocery stores on the island. The one with the best selection is located in French Harbour, just a few minutes east of the marina. If your boat needs repairs or maintenance, speak with Santos, the general manager at the marina. He can recommend workers and direct you to marina supply stores.

Swimming with dolphins, ziplining, going up in a seaplane, exploring the depths of the ocean in a submarine, or playing with the monkeys and parrots are just a few of the many options in Roatan.

The coral reef surrounding Roatan is part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world, and has been a major attraction to divers for years.
