Placencia Yacht Club marina

Belize’s Placencia Yacht Club welcomes boaters and residents to its unique and very private location in Placencia harbor.

Only 400 meters by water from Placencia Village, Placencia Yacht Club offers protected dockage for visiting boaters as well as the opportunity to purchase lots or condominiums.

Mike Potoker arrived in Placencia 30 years ago on “La Ola”, a yellow Belizean built 26’ fishing boat.

As he sailed into the Placencia Harbor, the young captain could barely believe his eyes – a beautiful, safe harbour, tranquil waters, sprawling white beaches and welcoming people.

“It didn’t take long for me to fall in love ….with the exotic local people and their incredible home, breathtaking Placencia. I discovered a little harbour, nestled in Placencia Caye. I dreamed of making my home there,” Potoker said.

He headed back to the “real world” to work but never forgot his dream of Placencia.

“Now, 30 years later, the boats have gotten bigger and more expensive. So have my tastes for comfort. My dream of a 34 slip marina with 16 luxury condominiums, a large swimming pool, the “Tranquilo” Restaurant & Bar situated on a long dock in Placencia harbor, where it all started - has become a reality!” he said.

The main dock has been completed as well as the 1200 sq ft “Tranquilo” Seafood Restaurant and Bar. Retaining walls are also now under construction and should be finished in the very near future.

The marina has the potential for 40 boats, up to 100 ft. long with 7 ft. draft. The marina will include water, electricity and 24 hour security. 30 and 50 amp electricity is available at a cost of 60 cents BZ per KW/H. And Placencia is blessed with some of the best water in the region . . 10 cents BZ gallon.

The complex includes 21 lots with boat slips for sale as well as 16 exclusive condominiums. Condominium owners will be able to dock their boats directly in front of their home.

Construction will begin soon on a large swimming pool available to yacht club residents and visiting boaters.

Shuttle service is available for runs to and from Placencia Village as well as Placencia Yacht Club’s large lot in the back of the village with water access so residents and guests will have a place to load and unload boats and cars with privacy and security.
