Another Huge Success!!!

On Saturday, December 3rd RAM Marina celebrated the 1st anniversary of their Yacht Paint Booth and the 3rd anniversary of the opening of the RAM Marine Store. The community came out in even larger numbers than last year – and great feedback!  Everyone appreciated the free lunch and drinks and enjoyed the day’s activities with their friends, and many took advantage of the 15% discount on West Marine products. Value of Donations for Raffle/Silent Auction:  Q26,630   ---   Total Funds Raised through the Day’s Event:  Q23,359

Everyone got into the spirit of the event and enthusiastically bid with their hearts at the silent auction…MANY for the actual value and a few for even HIGHER! Thanks to all who attended -- your generosity was overwhelming and most appreciated! As a result, each Program student will be receiving another year of tuition-paid education, and the Program will be expanding to include financial assistance in 2017 to attend college/university.  We’re delighted!

As many of you know, this was the 2nd year RAM sponsored a fundraiser for rural students of Cayo Quemado taking part in the Community Tuition Grant Program established in 2011. The Program awards financial assistance to those families in the village who desire to provide a higher level of education for their children but who cannot afford the entire tuition through their family resources. At the RAM events, the students help staff by greeting the guests, helping to dock the dinghies, serving food and performing much of the initial set-up and final clean-up. They also participate in the fundraising portion of the events by selling raffle tickets to residents in their village. Some students take on larger tasks by watching over and counting the proceeds at days end. Their responsible participation is truly a valuable learning experience and is a big commitment for them, their families, and their own community.

More Happy Students of the Program

All the work involved from beginning to end is accomplished by people who generously volunteer their time. The multitude of items and services raffled and auctioned are donated by people who want to help the Program reach its goal of helping to educate every Cayo Quemado young person in need of financial help. For these reasons we proudly say: 100% of donations are used for education for young persons in the village -- there are NO overhead or administrative fees.
