Casa Guatemala Now Hosts Angie’s Guest House in Guatemala City
May 11, 2016
Story by Roving Reporter Kitty Kenworthty

With an UPDATE by Director, Heather Graham

What a delight!! We had visited the Casa Guatemala House offices in Zone 10 in Guatemala City on a previous occasion, but this time we were honored to be the very first guests in the brand new and beautiful ‘Angie’s Guest House,’ in the downstairs of the building. Photos do not do justice to the lovely accommodations and the charming hostess.

So much cozier than a hotel, the guest house offers not only lovely bedrooms, but also a warm and welcoming dining room and a communal kitchen with everything one needs to cook and eat at home. Free Internet and TV with English DVDs are available for the asking, and there is free parking for guests.

The guest room with a private bath is $40/night, and the guest rooms with the shared bath are $30/night. As if all this was not enough, Angie’s Guest House is literally within easy walking distance of the U.S. Embassy, Centro Medico, and restaurants and pubs galore.

There is an excellent comedor just a few steps across the street from the guest house that offers tasty and inexpensive breakfasts and lunches; and, a small tienda at the end of the block for purchasing drinks, snacks, and necessities. We also walked two short blocks to a small food court, on the ground floor of an office building on Avenida 6, offering Subway sandwiches, super Chinese food, coffee, and ice cream.

Angie’s Guest House is a real find. It’s sweet and comfortable, incredibly convenient, and is very affordable. Try it, you’ll like it. Smile

To make reservations, please contact Heather, at BackPackers, 4212-8223 or call the land line in the Guesthouse: 2361-7748.

UPDATE from Director Heather Graham:  We can also provide pick up and drop off at the Zone 1 bus station for those early morning arrivals and departures! Want to go to Pricesmart? We have a membership and can arrange for that too. And as always, all the proceeds go directly to fund Casa Guatemala and help to cover our administration costs!
