Patricia and Gary Waid of s/v Lorelei, former Rio Dulce boaters now living in Titusville, Florida, narrowly escaped serious injury along with their two dogs Friday March 20 when their boat's mast was struck by an arc from a powerline on the Indian River.

The boat immediately burst into flames. Fortunately, the couple and dogs were rescued by local fishermen.
