After reading about all the criminal activities on your web pages around Rio Dulce, why would a cruiser go there, let alone buy a home?
There are sooooooo many nice places on this planet, and it sure looks like the Rio Dulce is NOT one of them to enjoy - especially considering the risk of life.
Too bad the government has no clue how to fix it.
Stay safe,
Hans

cruisers come here because it's heaven.
you have to live right and die first to get in.
after that the risk of life is moot. |

There is no "safe" place left on this planet. Anywhere one person has more of, or something that another person wants or is lacking, there will be crime, corruption and grief.
We turn a deaf ear to all the statistics coming out of "beautiful" places like Miami, New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, etc, yet when crime strikes the remote places (like the "third" world) all hell breaks loose because it's not an every-day occurence.
Don't discount the charm and beauty of a location based on statistics. Don't judge a country based on its history of corruption. After all, the United States is one of the most corrupt governments on the planet - it just so happens that we have laws and excuses allowing and justifying the bad behavior. None of us is immune. All of us are responsible, in the long run. _________________ Happy to be...bouncing from tree to tree... |

Yes, there are dangers living here but I believe the benefits outweigh the dangers. As in most places, the majority of the people here are wonderful people who love life. As in most places there are a few bad ones that you have to deal with in whatever way you can. In the US you trade giving a large amount of your income to the government for what you think is security and I personally don't care to live in a police state for the illusion of security. I'll take my chances in Central America.
As Jim Isbell says on the forum:
"If you are not living on the edge, well then, you are just taking up too much space." _________________ I have been asked...what do you old folks do now that you're retired? Well..I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch , and margaritas into urine. |

Just for a bit of balance on violent news, this from Miami-Dade Florida
Miami letter mail carrier fatally wounded in robbery; postal truck stolen, recovered
A mail carrier apparently on his daily route was fatally wounded by a gunman Monday afternoon in north Miami-Dade, police said.
Details were sketchy but the carrier’s truck was briefly stolen by the shooter. The U.S. Postal Service quickly offered a $25,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the shooter.
The incident unfolded at 486 NW 165th St. Rd. sometime around 2:47 p.m., near two large apartment complexes were the mail carrier was making his rounds. Callers to 911 reported hearing several shots, police said.
After the shooting, the gunman took off on the mail truck, which was found abandoned a short distance away. A manhunt has begun for the shooter described as a black male with dreadlocks in his 20′s or 30′s, 6-feet-tall, wearing a red jacket and black and slacks and shirt, police said.
The unidentified postal worker in his 50s was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.At 4 p.m., police had blocked off a section of Northwest 165th Street and Second Avenue.
FBI agents also responded to the scene.
