Put your thinking caps on Idea and win a dinner for two with a bottle of wine (or bucket of beer) by coming up with a new name for Churrasqueros, now managed by Monica .. and still owned by Jerry.

Now that Alan is gone, a new name is needed. Alan was Churrasqueros and the name should stay with him.

Submit your entries as replies to this topic. Jerry and Janet will take a look at them and make their choice. The winner will be notified here, also.

Ready, set, go!

Well .. that's up to JJ. Mebbe it'll be a bottle made of glass. Quien sabe?

I have a bit of nostalgia for the ol' "Crow Bar" which was widely known.

Danny on XIsle suggested "Monica's" .. which is great .. but I think a name that has um, continuation, would be better. Something that lasts between owners & managers .. kinda like Paris Hilton (is that a hotel or a girl?) or Hilton Paris or Pizza Hut or McJerry's or Mexican Train "Dominoes" or "Hawg's Breath Saloon" or "Dawg's Breath Saloon" ..??

Dunno .. just got my big 20Kw genset running so I'm in a hopeless state of exstasy (sp?) .. beer is getting COLD and batteries are getting CHARGED! It's been 15 days sitting dead in da water.

I am most apologetic to insert my views here, since I am not actually part of the full time community, but really

I remember as of the beginning when Alan chose the name of Churresqueros, everyone had difficulty of pronouncing it and when somebody asked it to us, one answered simply Jurrassic Park. It was really funny. But since the hotel and the marina bear the name of Vista Rio, the restaurant can as well name El Rio!

I will think of other names and I will return

Well I've got to throw in my two cents here.

Since it is already Hotel-Marina Vista Rio why not Hotel-Vista Rio Restuarante & Marina.

How to Choose a Good Name for Your Eatery
By Lorri Mealey, About.com

Things to Keep in Mind When Naming a Restaurant

You’re Creating a New Brand – So make sure it’s memorable and
has positive connotations. If it’s a foreign word, make sure it doesn’t
mean something bad in another language. (The Chevy Nova failed largely
because in Spanish it means, “No go.”)

Easy to Remember – Make sure others find the name easy to
remember. If it’s not, people will have trouble finding it and telling friends
about it.

Easy to Spell – If the name has an unusual spelling, it will make it
harder for people to look up in the phone book and on line.

Beginning of the Alphabet – In listings of restaurants, from local
city restaurant guides to telephone books, you’ll want your restaurant to
appear near the top of the list as often as possible. An easy way to
ensure this is to make sure that the first letter of the first significant word
in the title starts with one of the first 6 letters of the alphabet. Otherwise,
when browsing, many people won’t even get to see your name. That’s
one of the reasons why our restaurant name was Beyond Measure.

Don’t Use a Common or Trademarked Name – Using a name like
McDonald’s or The Hamburger Joint is asking for trouble.

Good info, Polvo.

Another tip would be not to choose a name that can be miscontrued phonetically. I remember in Corpus Christi, Texas many years ago, a restaurant decided to call itself "White Horse Cafe" not a particularly inviting name anyway, but when its ad came out in the Yellow Pages, it was spelled "White Hearse Cafe".

They didn't get much business from that ad, needless to say.

this is a good opportunity to change the menu, the theme, the clientele,
and the brand but...

if none of those are going to change then it's probably best to
stay with "Vista Rio", que no?

and... it DOES have one of the best river views of all the restaurants
on the rio dulce.

but... just so i'll have an entry in the name game contest, how about...

The Tree House
