We would like to start a New Category where we could feature a photo taken by one of our readers every day.

The key to a category like this is "audience participation." We need readers to send photos. I know everyone on a boat or ashore has a digital camera.

We would like to kick off this new category on January 1, 2009. That gives you guys some time to sort through those photos and send your favorites to: photoeditor@riodulcechisme.com Send as many and as often as you like. The only rule is the photo must be taken in Guatemala.

I will start storing up the photos so we will have some stock to get things going, then on the First of the Year I will start publishing one everyday.

We might make some of the photos that are suitable into banners, and maybe award a photo of the month and publish it on the front page.

Again the key is participation. If we don't get enough photo submissions we will just drop the idea.

I just wanted to say thanks to all who have participated in this experimental category. So far the response has been great.

Keep those photos coming to photoeditor@riodulcechisme.com or just post them yourself.

Maybe we haven't had a new photo everyday, cause sometimes I get lazy and go sailing. I hope to do more of that.

If you send me a photo and you don't see it posted right away, check again manana. I'll get to yours when you least expect it.

Meanwhile enjoy some of the great photos that have been posted already.
