Watching JPL live and they are jumping up and down, hugging one another.
Everything is working and they just got the first image
This is seriously exciting and I'm just an interested bystander _________________ Veni, Vidi, Velcro;

Couple days ago I watched this pretty good (short) video on curiosity's landing (animated) narrated by Steven Lee, the guidance, navigation, and control manager.

What a nail biter that must have been. A lot of money was riding on that landing................ _________________ "It always takes longer and costs more money." |

In watching it you could see how nervous the guys at JPL were. Each little event in the process they would applaud. When it was finally down the relief in the room was very evident, they were clapping and hugging each other all over the room. _________________ I have been asked...what do you old folks do now that you're retired? One of the things they were going to attempt (but could not guarantee) was taking a pic via the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter of Curiosity as it descended.
They even succeeded at that. Pretty spectacular IMO
