heard it thru the jungle vine this morning (VHF net):
No Anchoring On the Rio Dulce During Semana Santa
The Naval patrol is approaching ALL boats anchored on the river
this morning and informing them that anchoring on the river is
prohibited until the end of Semana Santa (April 9th?).
They said the reasons are twofold - safety and security. _________________ NEXT POST WILL CONTAMINATE INFORMATION |

The president posted this on his Facebook page this morning:
El Sistema Nacional de Prevención en Semana Santa (Sinaprese) es un sistema se busca prevenir, mitigar y responder a las contingencias o emergencias que se puedan presentar como producto de la afluencia masiva de personas en lugares de recreación, así como en las diferentes carreteras del país durante la Semana Mayor
Translation by Bing:
The national system of prevention in Holy week (Sinaprese) is a system seeks to prevent, mitigate and respond to contingencies or emergencies that might arise as a result of the massive influx of people in places of recreation, as well as on the different roads of the country during the week higher.
It has also been common during Semana Santa for the Navy to stop launchas where people are not wearing life vests and suggest they do so.
The Rio can get very crazy during during this week and I recommend that if people are living on their boats at anchor or in a marina they take a little trip down river to Texan Bay or Laguna Salvador and hang out until it's over. You will be much more comfortable.
Everybody be careful out there. _________________ I have been asked...what do you old folks do now that you're retired? Well..I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch , and margaritas into urine. |

Does this mean that the dinghy motor thieves will follow the caravan of boats heading down there??? Sounds like a good time to escape to the far reaches of Lago Izabal... _________________ Happy to be...bouncing from tree to tree... |
