Guatemala City, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Thousands of peasants on Monday are increasingly close to their destination while demanding a solution to the agricultural issue in the penultimate stage of a march heading to the capital.
On Monday, the demonstrators will begin their walk from the city of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, in the department of El Progreso, and then they will cross the geographical boundary with the neighboring Guatemala department, and will stop hours later at the capital's gates.
Their purpose is to arrive on Tuesday at Plaza de la Constitution, where they will end the mobilization that started on March 19 in the city of Coban, the capital of the northern Alta Verapaz department.
The march ranks were thickening along the way with the incorporation of indigenous people from other nearby regions, so its leaders expect to pack the so-called Central Park with an estimate from 8,000 to 10,000 people.
(i wonder why they say *so-called Central Park* ??) |
