This was posted on a different forum however I am making the quote shorter since we all know who the Crazy Guy is.

| Quote: | I know that a lot of boaters will be going into Fronteras to shop for Christmas over the next couple of weeks and something happened to me that they may need to be aware of for their own safety. I'm only sending this to you out of concern for others on the river.
I was walking back to Bruno's and noticed this guy following me. He's the crazy stinky homeless guy with the nasty hair. He had a pistol in his hand. I started stopping at stores and looking at things and over my shoulder I could see him waiting outside. When I would walk out I passed him and he'd fall back in behind me and followed me again. This happened about four different times so I got scared. It was very clear that he was tracking me. I ducked into the Tigo store where the guys speak English and told them what he was doing. A gringo customer at the counter went out and talked to the guy and the guy started yelling and pointing at me as I was hiding behind a display counter. He called me Puta and said I had quit coming to see him. I've never talked to the guy in my life.
The gringo told him to leave so he did. The gringo said the police had run him out of town several times before and that the guy is insane. The gringo said that he was going to go to the police station and report this and try to get him run out of town again.
One of the employees realized I was very scared to leave their building and offered to walk me to Brunos. On the way, we saw the guy lurking at the bus station and watching me.
**** ***** says it's not a real pistol. It's a plastic one but I didn't know that when I saw him holding it in his hand. I was afraid he thought I was someone else and was going to shoot me. Scared the stuff out of me.

After returning to the Rio Dulce a couple of days ago, I was told that Crazy Guy was killed. Is this true? Does anyone know what happened?
Even after all the hell he put me through in 2008 on the Rio, stalking me with his plastic pistol and calling me nasty names, attacking my friends with a big stick and following me into stores, I feel bad that it had to happen, if it did. On the other hand, I am relieved that I don't have to carry pepper spray or any other means of protection to walk in Fronteras.
Take care,

nope, just left town in much the same circumstances as when he took his 'short' break in 2007ish.
Although he's a complete weirdo, let's hope one day (not likely) he may get the help he needs. |

Are you positive? More than one person has said he had been killed and they seemed to be sure about it. When did he leave and do you know where he went?
By the way, what were those circumstances you mentioned? I had not heard about 2007. Thanks,

If there was a foreigner killed on the streets of Rio Dulce (and he was foreign...from where exactly no-one was entirely sure) then it would be a pretty big deal and I'm sure the 'grapevine' would have got to you before now. Locas (as the locals knew him) was definitely not killed here. Maybe find out where your sources got their info from, if they were chapin or foreign and if they knew the word in spanish for gone or dead...maybe they mixed up the two. You know sometimes what the gossip mill is like, the jucier the better right? People would rather hear that he was gutted like a pig on the street with a machete as opposed to just bought a ticket, some new clothes and sent out of town.
Either way he's gone, he may return just like he did after his last departure. So breathe easy because he's not here.
Who knows, Locas might have had shower and a shave and could be living amongst us! Probably not though. |
