Moving on to 2010 and shutting down 2009. A couple of updates to add. Christmas and New Years in the past has always been a dicey time for maintaining ownership of stuff. In spite of the new patrol (now in its second year) we still had two incidents on the Rio. Both involved the theft of a dingy and motor. I have managed to track down both parties.

Both sets of details are listed below.

Just a reminder, act like you want to maintain ownership of your stuff. Lock your dinghy, this may be paradise to many, but to some it is a opportunity. So shut down the opportunity.

Incidents prior to the start date of this log are welcome to be posted, we will do our best to determine their validity and what action(s) took place following the incident.

Please remember that if you have an incident, this forum is not the location to request assistance. If you are in the Patrolled area the Naval Patrol may be contacted either
Cell No. 011-502-4040 4971 - OIC of the shift or
Apostadero No. 011-502-7968 5744 - Which is a landline

You may also contact the patrol on CH-16 (VHF)
or on Channel 16. They respond to "Guardia Costa" and speak Spanish. So please be prepared to use what ever Spanish you may have access to in order to assist them in locating you.

Areas outside of the Patrolled area, have infrequent patrols by the larger patrol boats used by the Guardia Costa, again they monitor channel 16 on your VHF.

Channel 68 is the local boat to boat hailing channel. Some assistance may be available from other businesses such as Texan Bay in the Cayo Comado area.
